The Macallan, founded in 1824, is one of Speyside’s most famous single malt distilleries. It is internationally known for its rich, sherry-led style, combining dried fruit, oak, spice, and depth in a way that has defined the distillery for decades. Estate Reserve was released as part of The Macallan’s 1824 Collection, a range designed to express different aspects of the distillery’s house style.

This bottling is widely described as a travel retail exclusive from the now discontinued 1824 Collection. Public descriptions state that it was drawn from specially selected casks, including sherry-seasoned hogsheads, and bottled without chill-filtration at 45.7% ABV, reflecting the traditional 80 UK proof style. Alongside The Macallan’s familiar richness and oak influence, it is often noted for softer fruit, ginger, vanilla, and citrus-driven character.
