Dufftown Distillery was founded in 1895 in Speyside and is now known as one of the distilleries behind The Singleton of Dufftown. Historically, however, Dufftown played an important role as a malt for blending, and it is often associated with Bell’s in particular. This older bottling belongs to a much earlier era than the modern Singleton releases and offers a glimpse of Dufftown in a more traditional single malt form.

This bottle is an older official Dufftown-Glenlivet release, carrying an 8-year age statement, a relatively robust 46% ABV, and a large 1-litre format. Public market records show comparable 8-year-old 46% bottlings as well as 12-year-old 100cl versions, making it reasonable to place this bottle in the 1980s era. In the market, it is often seen as a chance to experience the Dufftown malt style that supported Bell’s, presented here as a single malt with a more classic, old-fashioned profile that can suggest a richer, more sherried character than modern Singleton bottlings.
