Bunnahabhain Distillery was founded in 1881 on Islay and is well known for a style that is gentler and less peated than many other Islay malts, often showing soft fruit, nuts, and a subtle coastal character. The Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old is one of the distillery’s best-known core expressions and is widely described as having first been launched in 1979.

This bottle features the older label with the familiar seafaring figure and the phrase “Westering Home…”, and bottles of this style are commonly identified in the market as 1990s releases. Bottled at 40% ABV, it represents the older standard style before the later higher-strength version, offering the soft, approachable character that defined Bunnahabhain for many drinkers during that period.
